Hi, I’m Heather! I’m a mom of three kids + one big rescue dog, and a longtime entrepreneur.
It’s been over 20 years since I started my first home business as a freelance copywriter when my first daughter was two years old. In 2003, I scrapped that business when my second daughter was born and her sleep troubles inspired me to invent two baby blankets called Swaddleaze and Blankeaze, which I later sold to Summer Infant.
When my son was born in 2006, I founded TheMogulMom.com to help other mom entrepreneurs who were trying to run a business, raise a family, and rock both. After seven happy years at the helm there, I sold the site in 2013.
After that, I tried my hand at a few other businesses including iPhone apps development and a WordPress plugin called May We Suggest. In 2015, I started an essential oils business with doTERRA and even received my aromatherapy certification in March of 2020!
Over the years, I have had the pleasure of being interviewed and featured in The New York Times, Working Mother, Fox Business News, ProBlogger, Entrepreneur, Visa Business Network, Daily Worth, Etsy Blog, Simple Mom, American Express OPEN Forum, SheKnows and YellowPages.com, as well as several best-selling books including The $100 Startup, The Digital Mom Handbook, and The Well-Fed Writer: Back for Seconds.
In 2020, I put everything on hold to be with my family during the pandemic and help my beloved mom who was diagnosed with vascular dementia. Following my mother’s death in May 2023, I’m taking a nice long break from business.
We’ll see what the future holds…
XO,
Heather
